Highway™ 2.1 Documentation (Main Window)

Highway's main screen is pretty self-explanatory (see Figure 1 below). Like all web browsers, it contains an address bar, Back and Forward buttons, and several other buttons on the Top Toolbar, including Go, Refresh, Stop, Home, and Help.

Beneath the Top Toolbar is a Menu Bar containing items such as File, Edit, Tools, and Help, each of which contain appropriate sub-menus.

Beneath the menu bar is the Bottom Toolbar. The Bottom Toolbar contains the following buttons: Favorites, Web Search, Copy, Print, and Options. In addition, at the far right end of the Bottom Toolbar there is one more button which will appear on occasion depending on the web page you are looking at.  It's a secure lock icon which appears automatically when visiting a secure web site. If you do not see this icon, then the web page you are currently looking at is not secure. In other words, don't enter any private information into such a page.

Each toolbar button contains an image and/or some text that explain its functionality. Mousing over a button will also cause a tooltip to be displayed if further explanation is needed.

A screenshot of the main screen appears below. An explanation of the functionality of some of the less obvious buttons and menu items follows.

Figure 1

Favorites Favorites: The Favorites button works just like the Favorites or Bookmarks button on any browser. Clicking on it will cause a sub-menu to appear. The first two sub-menu items are Add A Favorite and Organize Favorites. After those, your favorites will appear in alphabetical order - first folders, then individual favorites. You can import your favorites from another browser as well by clicking Tools, and then Import Favorites from the Menu Bar.
Web Search Web Search: The Web Search button allows you to search the web for words or phrases, and occasionally reveals important notices regarding Highway™ or other products.
Options The Options button takes you to the Options screen. It's exactly the same as clicking Tools -> Options from the menu bar. The Options screen contains one tab, General.  The General tab contains settings you can use to customize the way Highway™ behaves.
Secure The Secure Lock icon will appear at the far right of the Bottom Toolbar any time you visit a web page that is secured by SSL. If you do NOT see the Secure Lock icon, you should not enter any personal information on that page.

As noted above, there are other windows/features available within the Highway 2.1 application in addition to the main browser window.  To find out about the other features in the application, click on the corresponding links below:
